'Eco-Art Life Sculptures' An Exploration of the Precious Daily Grind Thru Multi-Colored Glasses
SEEing The Gift
Having been intensely involved in the hustle and hype of the graphic design, restaurant, and real estate development industries, it has become very clear to me that it is easy to lose touch with the simple beauty of the people, animals, and nature that surrounds and inspires us daily. Those gifts from God that should be the focus of our existence.
My technical skills were honed by a 4 year art school degree, and a brief stay at a highly respected graphic design studio in Milwaukee, before I ventured into my first commercial art business. But, that had me glued to a computer screen for years. It was only in the depths of delays while building artist live and work housing, that I was led to fine art. The beautiful gift I had been given, had not yet been explored.
And then one day... Recycling the discarded scraps that surrounded me in the building trade, I found great happiness in composing and crafting small textural paintings. My first paintings were of Sunflowers - the symbol of the Arts and Crafts Movement that flourished in the late 1800's to early 1900's.
Loving my new form of expression, but undiscovered in a sea of waving creatives, it was, ironically, in giving my colorful and whimsical artful experiments to charitable organizations for silent auctions, that people began taking notice of my work. In the end, what I found was that the joy I got from helping others, led me to see the gift in myself. ...The real gift was giving.

My ART pieces are explorations of personal stories and interests of my clients, and are as colorful as the people and subjects they represent. They are whimsical with hidden but inspired messages, and a deliberately crude and almost chaotic construction style. Creating allows me to escape the preciseness and rigidity of life's required events, and of the building developer's process that I have entangled with.
My plaster painting assemblages, that I call eco-art life sculptures, are created with a plaster & paint process I developed after years of doing wall finishes for my homes and local businesses. I use recycled building materials, and found objects to create these very dimensional, sculptural, and personalized paintings. Many items have also been collected from visits to building project dumpsters, the Milwaukee Restores, Goodwill and Salvation Army stores.
The paint used is also recycled from friend and family donations, and 'Oops Paint' from Home Depot and Restore. I am currently showing jewelry at The Almont Gallery, and paintings at Peoples's Park in Waukesha. My most recent work includes painting a fresh and bright interior for Cafe De Arts, a series of cocktail paintings I call 'TipSee', and designing an $18.8 million dollar condo development in Oconomowoc - FowlerLakeVillage.com.
Many thanks to my loving parents, family, and friends for their passionate encouragement through the journey...
